Four perfect places to collect mushrooms in Spain

With the autumn and the rains it has begun the season of recollecting mushrooms. The lovers of the mycology are each time more and more numerous and this make it more difficult the searching.

In Spain we have a big variety and quantity of mushrooms in our forest and today we are going to propose 4 places where you can find this delicacy so precious.

Madrid

The Community of Madrid counts with the forest full of mushrooms, as the ones of Pinares Llanos, Fuenfría and Lozoya. At the north of the community of Madrid, at the Parque Nacional de Guadarrama, we found one of the favourites villages to practice the mycology as Alameda del Valle. Here you can found edible as La Amanita Caesarea, Boletus Edulis or níscalos. Other perfect place is el Valle de Lozoya, where we can collect boletus, níscalos or mushrooms of cardo, into other ones. After of a tough day , the most crave it is to rest and you can do it from Las Casitas de la Poza, situated at the Gargantilla de Lozoya, surrounded of a wonder environment

Catalonia

One of the regions with more tradition on the collection of mushrooms is Catalonia. A little paradise mycologic is the Parque Natural del Montseny, in Barcelona. Here you can found species like rovellón, níscalos, negrilla and trompeta de los muertos. Bungalows El Carlitos is the perfect establishment for your route days because of the Catalan forest.

Basque Country

One of the best places to find edible mushroom is at the Basque Country. A good place is the Parque Natural de Gorbeja where you can found zones of robredal and pineda where to find mushrooms but the authentic paradise it’s found in the hayedo de Altube, where proliferate the most searching specie in the zone, el Boletus Edulis. Near to the Parque Natural it’s found the Cabañas Zuhaitz Etxeak where you can stay the night in an absolutely peace and privacy.

La Rioja

At La Rioja are two municipals with tradition: Ezcaray and Igea. Although we recommend other  places  as Munilla, Villarroya and Aguilar del Río Alhama.
